Not a day goes by when you don’t access the Web via your smartphone. And you probably don’t think too much about how lucky you are.

Because 16% of the world’s population still does not have access to fast mobile networks. It’s a situation which should soon be changing. Indeed, setting up quality infrastructures that are reliable, sustainable and resilient in order to encourage economic development and the well-being of populations is the United Nations’ ninth sustainable development goal. The UN wants to promote innovative industries which create decent jobs and respect the environment.

The least advanced countries have, in this respect, the greatest potential. To make this happen investment need to go to supporting advanced technology that increases manufacturing efficiency: we need to trust mobile phones to do the job of connecting the world.

What can you do? Think of new ways to use old equipments.
